This was a great week of training. I got a good amount of running in and had a day of different exercise. Check it out below!
This week I ran a total of 40.37 miles in 5:57:03. You may notice that I did not run yesterday (Saturday) which is a bit unusual since I have been running everyday, but I will get to that in a bit.
This week I actually got to run outside on Tuesday, which was great! I did a 10K and actually PR’d it in 53:02. It was really windy, and I was running into the wind most of the run. It started out sunny, changed to blizzard snow about 35 minutes in, then back to sunny for the last 10 minutes. It was a lot of fun! And, it felt great to be outside for the first time in about 3 weeks or so. Hopefully the weather warms up this week and I can get outside some more!
I also had a great 15 mile long run today on the treadmill. People ask, how do you spend about 2:15:00 running on a treadmill and not go crazy? the answer today was that Netflix released season 3 of House of Cards! I watch a little over 2 full episodes while running today which was a great distraction. Running outside, the scenery and my music is all I need, but inside, you need a little extra.
All in all it was a great week of training! I felt strong on my 15 mile run today, and I am happy with just over 40 miles for the week. Legs are feeling good. I think I am ready to really dive into my half marathon training program the week after next and try to improve my speed over the distance.
Yesterday (Saturday), I did not get a chance to run. This is because I was doing a bunny hunting tournament. me, my brother, 3 cousins, and some of their friends all teamed up to try and get the biggest bunny. We want to have at least one rabbit per guy to make sure that if you don’t win the biggest rabbit, you can win one of the “Rabbit in a Hat” prizes. Basically you get entered into a drawing if you register a rabbit and can win $25 or $50. My cousin Ben actually won $25 off that. The money goes into the pot for the group and we eat and drink off that for the day. Last year we won enough money to pay for all our food and drinks this year and not have to put into the pot.
The point of all this, is that I had to wake up about 4:15am to head up to Door County for the rabbit hunt. I then walked and hunted from sun up till about 11:30.during that time I put on close to my daily goal of 10,000 steps (which is about 5 miles for me). After the hunt we went to the club for the registration and prize drawings. They had raffles and door prizes as well. I actually won a shotgun on one of the raffles! First time I have ever actually won.
Because of all this, I got home late, and while I could have ran, I felt like I would be wearing myself out running late at night anf the in the morning doing the planned 15 miles, so I chose to not run (I have run late and then tried to run long the next morning and it didn’t work well in the past). All in all, I think it worked out well for me.
